It is the earliest surviving set of partbooks (descant, tenor, and contratenor) and an important source of 15th century musical material.〔 Paweł Gancarczyk, in the journal Early Music, v. 37(1) (2009), pp. 27–36, 'Abbot Martin Rinkenberg and the origins of the ‘Glogauer Liederbuch’ 〕 The manuscript is named after the town of Glogau (present-day Głogów) in Lower Silesia.
